We believe THAT ALL STUDENTS SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO EFFECTIVE, RESEARCH-BASED INSTRUCTION THAT WE KNOW WORKS FOR ALL LEARNERS.

HI THERE!

The goal of The Reading Room is to provide students with the tools they need to be successful in all aspects of literacy. While we specialize in tutoring children with dyslexia or other learning disabilities, we're experienced teachers and have worked with children of all levels and abilities.

Our program is highly effective and will benefit any child who is struggling to read, spell,

or write. Oftentimes, children who are having learning challenges just need someone

with the right expertise to fill in the gaps for them in a way that makes sense! We use the

multi-sensory Orton-Gillingham approach to help children develop their fundamental

reading and spelling skills and overcome their learning challenges.

At The Reading Room, we believe that learning needs to be fun and engaging, and that

success breeds success. We teach using explicit instruction and scaffolding so that children

master the foundational skills, build from there, and never become overwhelmed.

Children are motivated to learn when they have a they have a good relationship with their teachers. We make it a goal to connect with every student that we work with, to support and motivate them, and to help them discover for themselves how truly amazing they are!

We work with children and youth of all levels and abilities who are experiencing challenges in the areas of reading, writing, or spelling. Students may have been diagnosed with a learning disability, or have a suspected learning disability in the areas of reading and writing such as dyslexia or dysgraphia, and/or ADHD.

These students need information presented in a different way, and need more than what traditional tutoring agencies can offer, including:
  • 1:1 or small group direct and explicit instruction in their specific area of need.
  • A research-based, direct, structured, multi-sensory approach individualized to each
  • learner.
  • On-going diagnostic assessment and progress reports.
  • On-going support and consultation for the family.
  • A nurturing and caring learning environment with an experienced language and literacy specialist.
