Our daughter started working with Carlin after school early in grade 4. After discovering our daughter had a learning disability related to reading and writing, we tried working with her on our own with only limited success. Carlin was able to quickly and correctly assess her abilities and implement a learning plan that greatly improved her reading, writing and confidence. Her improvements were noticeable in only a few months and helped with her confidence and performance in school. Carlin was also able to give us some tools as parents in order to continue working with our daughter outside of school or tutoring. I would highly recommend Carlin as a very talented and skilled tutor. She is extremely knowledgeable about literacy and is fantastic with kids! She worked with all four of my children of varying ages, and I was really impressed with her ability to make a connection with each of them and make their lessons engaging. I highly recommend Carlin for struggling readers and writers. Carlin is able to assess for skill gaps and uses a researched approach to remediate these gaps. My daughter highly benefited from the Orton Gillingham approach and made significant progress in a short amount of time. Equally important, Carlin is patient and connects with her students, so that they are eager to go see her. My daughter is now reading at grade level and has made gains in her confidence thanks to Carlin’s support.

Carlin has helped our son our tremendously. His confidence and reading have grown so much and he's starting to enjoy reading, which seemed impossible not that long ago.
We started out the coming to her because we could tell he was struggling to read and everything we tried didn't seem to connect or work for him. She gave us an honest assessment and started to work with him weekly with at home work that really helped us understand how to help / support him.
Through this process, we had our son assessed for learning disabilities and that was an overwhelming process, which left us searching for more help. Carlin was there once again to help us look at his assessment and come up with practical accommodations so we could work with his school.

My daughter has been working with Carlin for one year now and we are blown away at how her reading has improved. Carlin is so patient and makes learning fun for Claire. She actually asks me every Wednesday morning with excitement if today is Wednesday because she knows that’s when she gets to come see Carlin. I have to fight with her every day to go to school but she is always excited when it’s time to see Carlin.
She understands how Claire learns and teaches her in a way she understands. We are so happy with her progress. A couple weeks ago Claire was able to read a letter she received with difficult words and no help. It brought me to tears to see her do that! We cannot say enough amazing things about Carlin and highly recommend her.

Our son (age 7) has been struggled with reading and we didn't want him to fall further behind over the summer while we were visiting family in Calgary. We first took him to a tutoring center, but were unimpressed with the staff who were on summer break from school and simply put an ipad in front of him.
Carlin was and is different! She's a professional who works with children that have learning disabilities. Not only did she help our son, but she helped us by giving us tools and tips to work with our son at home.

Carlin is a kind, patient and skilled tutor. My son started working with her after a few difficult years and a learning disability diagnosis. I remember after a few sessions with Carlin, he was beaming when he could spell the word 'lunch'. Now he's reading and spelling long, multi-syllable words with ease, and just aced his final Language Arts exam. Needless to say, his reading and spelling has improved exponentially as has his confidence. He always looked forward to his sessions with Carlin and was proud to share his school achievements with her. I would highly recommend her to any family!
